Your Instructor - Tom Morrison

Tom Morrison served six terms in the Illinois General Assembly as a Republican, representing Cook County's northwest suburbs. In his first race, he defeated an entrenched incumbent. In his final two elections, he won by 43 votes and 2,104 votes respectively — despite severe top-of-the-ballot heandwinds and a nearly $2 million funding disparity.

He has volunteered or worked on dozens of campaigns over the past 25 years. That experience — across different races, different environments, and different candidates — convinced him that the mechanics of winning a local race don't belong to either party. Walk lists, win numbers, voter contact, earned media: these work because of how voters make decisions, not because of who's asking.

Before and alongside his time in office, Tom built a small business, taught, and worked in radio and TV broadcasting. He graduated from Hillsdale College with a degree in history and a minor in communications. He's been married for 23 years and has four children.
